8 innovative ways to break free of your limitations

Our limitations prevent us from doing what we love, and forbid happiness from coming into our lives. I’ve written below several personal innovation ideas to help you in this case.

The hardest obstacles to overcome are our own: “I don’t have”, “I am not”, and “I don’t deserve.” Have you ever felt that way about yourself?

If you did, it’s time to stop that. You deserve to smile and make the world a better place because you exist. We need you at the top of your game.

I invite you to keep an open mind, as you read this article, and you’ll learn something salient and innovative enough to get you busy on breaking free of your limitations.

  1. Fight the enemy within

“Your blade is pointed in the wrong direction…

Even though you fight so hard you’ve got no traction,

All you can do is a timed reaction,

To battle the foe of a well-known faction.”

We tend to take the battle to the enemy we know, like the environment we work in, but that’s only conventional thinking.

What if the enemy we’re seeing and fighting is not the real threat?

Our inner world is much vaster than we believe. We’re afraid to actually know ourselves, so that’s the reason why we don’t have a game plan, when we have to face the enemy within.

Fear can be our ally, though. Just look at how our ancestors dealt with fire. They were afraid of it, in the beginning. But, they kept at it, and tamed the beast.

Go where your fear lies. Dare to venture into the inner most depths of yourself.

You might hear whispers in your mind saying that you should give up. That’s called “the little voice”, which is part of our lizard brain. It only wants you to stay out of harm’s way.

“If it stings, give up,” it says.

A better version of yourself lies just beyond the next bump in the road, so step on your “little voice” and move forward.

  1. Become the black sheep temporary

“We’re all crazy,” said a young motivational speaker, “whether we do what we like or not”.

Becoming the black sheep of the family is within our reach every day.

Suppose you want to climb a mountain tomorrow. I wonder how many of your family members would see that as feasible. Not many I’m sure.

But, that shouldn’t be something that trifles you.

If you want to advance past your fear of failure, fear of what other people say, then it’s important to ready yourself to the bone.

Strong preparation will always beat a tone of concentration. You can be extremely concentrated on climbing the mountain, but without good preparation beforehand you are undoubtedly going to fail.

Becoming a “black sheep” has yet another advantage, at times. It stands as the link between your present self and your future best self. Have you ever thought of it this way?

By temporary becoming a “black sheep” you get to bridge the distance between your scared present self and your future fearless self.

Also, as Paulo Coelho says, “Don’t forget: temporary insanity moments spice up your life.”

  1. Plant the seeds of tomorrow

What do farmers want? After they plow the soil, plant the seeds, and pray for rain?

They want to reap the benefits, as we would all do. It’s the same with breaking free of our limitations.

The thoughts you plant into your brain today become the harvest of tomorrow. But, what if these thoughts of yours are an enemy? What if your present situation is a consequence of the thoughts you had yesterday? That would be quite scary, yet it’s actually true.

We are where we are in life based on what we thought most about in the past, because most of our results come from the story we tell ourselves.

  1. Find supportive limitations

One of the reasons we have limiting beliefs is that we do not know what we want to do with our lives.

What you seldom see clearly, you seldom get. It’s as simple as that.

If you don’t see clearly ahead of you, then you’re going to flee and abandon the fight against your limitations.

On the other hand, if you manage to precede mastery with clarity, then you’re going to fight head on against your limitations.

So, what you could do is to find a pillar of support that will allow you to sustain a positive, crispy clear mentality over the long run.

I give you supportive limitations.

Think of it like this. Are you the kind of person who tests the water or just jumps right in?

Either way, you tell your mind that it’s ok to do so. You know exactly what you want, in either scenario, but you also limit yourself in a good way, by switching your brain’s neuroplasticity from association to possibility – the latter being easier to tackle when it comes to fear.

Consequently, a supportive limitation is the pillar needed to sustain a positive, crispy clear mentality to battle your fears.

Let me give you an example, to best explain. I understand that you’re a bit puzzled.

Let’s say you think of money as the root of all evil. That’s a limiting belief.

But, instead of using affirmations that use the association function of the brain to reprogram your mentality, you could exploit another technique – affirmations.

Long story short, ask yourself smart questions like “What is the one thing I can do to alter my perception of money?”

Write this question down every morning, for at least 30 days, to turn it into a habit. You’ll start to see how your mind will give you solutions to that specific question.

  1. Become a conscious creator of reality

“Sing it with me on the count of three,

I believe in myself, and where I’m supposed to be,

You ain’t got no power over me,

For I am the master of my destiny.”

The environment we live in plays a huge role when it comes to our level of performance.

Modern studies are showing that our genetics only amount up to 35% of what we can do, and the rest depends on our daily, conscious decisions about what we think, eat, do etc.

The new field of epigenetics tells us that, even if a member of your family had a chronic or hereditary disease, then you’re not genetically predisposed to inheriting that specific disease. It’s more up to the extent to which your environment controls you.

So, if you want to control your environment, it’s important to become a conscious creator of your reality.

Try this for a change.

Imagine your environment as a movie director, while you’re an actor. Who’s going to influence whom?

Direct your environment like Steven Spielberg directs his movies.

For example, choose your friends wisely and consciously, not just choosing whoever happens to appear in your social circle at one point.

  1. Freedom lies in every second

I think we already have the power to be free, but we choose not to. There is so much freedom nowadays, yet we feel so deprived of it.

Why is that?

I reckon is because our perception of time is skewed. Food for thought: Freedom exists because time exists as well.

You must first allow yourself to be free.

We’re always in a hurry, from eating to interacting to each other. Time can bind us to slavery.

Unfortunately, society has conditioned us to HAVE before we ARE.

Start by allowing yourself to be free. Let “you” happen, just like a flower blossoms.

  1. Take the risk worth taking

Have you ever been in a situation where you were afraid to take a risk? I know I’ve been.

I was afraid to tell a girl I liked her, because of fear of refusal, and so on.

But, what if you could take only the risks which are worth taking?

I know, you must be thinking “oh, you mean calculated risk?” The one where you chose the risk with the least damaging trade-off, right?

Nope, that is not what I’m talking about.

I’d like you to see risk as playing chess. At chess, it’s important to think at least one step ahead.

Your mindset must be something like “What’s the next action here?”

Take the risk worth taking by clearly seeing what future action will become available to you if you indeed take it.

Don’t just dive right in, or take a calculated risk based on trade-offs. Ask yourself what course of action will become clear ahead of me if I take this risk. Please remember that what you seldom see clearly, you seldom get.

  1. Synchronize yourself

You’ve probably seen those inspirational pictures where a cat sees itself as a lion in the mirror.

Well, it gets you tingling on the inside, but how do you actually do it?

Theory is theory, practice is practice, after all.

If you want that to happen, you should synchronize your inner self with your outer self.

Let me give you an example – beauty parlors.

People come to get their hair done, their nails done etc. Don’t ask me about these things, though.

The interesting thing is that some people want to have a certain hairstyle, and they even bring pictures to the stylist.

“I want to look like that”, they say.

Yet, right after the stylist puts the finishing touches, the client adds: “It’s not like how I imagined it to be.”

So they start blaming the stylist.

The actual problem is that the customer hasn’t synchronized his inner self with his outer self.

It means that your attitude is reflected in your hairstyle, and the way you dress. If your attitude doesn’t match your clothes or hairstyle, you won’t like what and who you see in the mirror.

Holy molly, you’ve reached the end of the article!
